The on-ice portion of this camp will not only focus on developing your skills, but will focus on elevating a player’s skating ability and hockey IQ.
We will go over creating time and space for opponents by making quick decisions, changing direction, changing speeds and protecting the puck. This skill of being evasive allows a player to maintain control of the puck and create more offensive plays and scoring chances.
Along with the ice times, Dynamite also focuses on strength development, conditioning and building confidence. We are going to be incorporating multisport training, with boxing being one of our main focusses in dryland.
Boxing not only assists with fast feet, fast hands and core strength, but it also improves your mental strength and builds confidence. We believe that cross training with football drills, boxing drills, and other sports allow you to become a full-dimensional athlete.
Key Elements of On Ice Training:
Dryland sessions combine hockey-specific and boxing-style workouts to build strength, speed, and stamina.
We focus on sport-specific knowledge, developing an athlete’s mentality, discipline, and respect. All sessions stress the importance of being a positive team player. This applies on and off the ice, in the dressing room, and in the community.
We believe that every player should have the opportunity to get better and develop. We want serious, hard-working, positive athletes in our program. We work at not just building them up as athletes but also respectful young future employees, business owners, university graduates, artists and much more.
Everything that you do in life requires hard work, discipline and the drive to want to be the most successful in whatever path you may choose. We instill that determination and positivity in our hockey development programs.
Hockey-specific and boxing style workouts target speed, agility, body strength, and conditioning. Boxing is great cross training for all athletes. We preach respect, discipline, drive, and sportsmanship with coaches, team mates and opponents.
Hockey IQ covers hockey rules, positional play, and applying coaching advice.
